Pre & Post Care
What I need you to do before and after—these steps make a real difference
Before Your Appointment
A little prep goes a long way
- You can wear your normal makeup on the day of your appointment
- Skip the alcohol for 24 hours before - it thins your blood
- If you take blood thinners, talk to your doctor first about pausing them
- On hormones? Let me know - they can affect how the pigment takes
- Do not touch your brows! I handle all the shaping during your appointment
- No electrolysis for 5 days before - it messes with the skin
- Skip Botox, AHA products, and retinoids for 2 weeks before
- Hold off on exfoliating treatments like microdermabrasion for 2 weeks
- No chemical or laser peels for at least 4 weeks before
- Avoid tanning for 7 days before your appointment
Please give your doctor a heads up and let me know if any of these apply to you:
- History of keloid scarring - we'll need dermatologist approval
- Pregnant or nursing - we can wait until after
- On Accutane now or within the last 6 months
- Blood thinners (unless your doctor approves stopping temporarily)
- Fresh or healing scars in your brow area (pink/red scars)
- Previous solid brow tattoo - needs removal first
- Can't commit to touch-up session at 6-8 weeks
- History of severe reactions to tattoo or PMU pigments
After Your Appointment
Follow these instructions for 7-10 days for best results
Absorb
Day of Procedure
Gently blot the area with a clean tissue every 5 minutes until oozing stops. This prevents scabbing.
Wash
Days 1-5
Wash daily with gentle, fragrance-free antibacterial soap. Pat dry with a clean tissue.
Moisturize
Days 1-7
Apply a rice grain-sized amount of provided ointment 3 times daily with a clean cotton swab.
Important to Know
Brows will be 40-50% darker immediately after the procedure. This is completely normal! The color will fade during the first 7-10 days to reveal your final, beautiful results.
Do These Things
- Blot gently for the first few hours with a clean damp paper towel
- After 24-48 hours you may shower and wash your face
- Apply the provided ointment for 7 days following the procedure
- Wear large sunglasses or a hat when outside
Avoid These (7-14 Days)
- Water, lotion, soap, or makeup on the area (first 24-48 hours)
- Increased sweating and sports
- Swimming, hot sauna, hot yoga, Jacuzzi
- Sun tanning or salon tanning
- Laser or chemical treatments, Retin-A, Glycolic acid
- Picking, peeling, or scratching the treated area
- Makeup directly on the brows
- Excessive alcohol consumption
Dark & Bold
Color appears 40-50% darker than final result. Slight swelling, redness, and tenderness is normal. Skin is closing—keep dry!
Flaking
Scabs form and begin to flake. Area may feel tight, dry, and itchy. DO NOT pick or scratch! Apply Aquaphor every 3-4 hours.
Ghosting
Color appears very light—may seem like it "disappeared." Don't panic! Pigment is settling beneath the epidermis. This is 100% normal.
Settled
True color revealed (30-40% of initial darkness). Healing complete. Ready for touch-up assessment!
- Always wear SPF 30+ sunscreen on treated areas to prevent fading
- Avoid chemical peels and laser treatments on the PMU area
- Schedule touch-ups every 1-2 years to maintain color vibrancy
- Keep skin hydrated and healthy for best color retention
Trust the Process
Your true color emerges in 7-10 days after. Be patient — the final result is worth the wait!
